Mindfulness Approaches in Cancer Care

When one is being mindful you are paying attention, on purpose, with a nonjudgmental attitude. It is a way of being in the world, as well as a practice that develops the ability to be mindful. In healthcare, mindfulness has largely grown to become a part of programs focused on reducing stress and promoting recovery through mindfulness-based interventions.  In cancer recovery, mindfulness-based programs often address common concerns, including loss of control, uncertainty, distress, depression, anxiety, pain, fatigue, and sleep disturbance.
